How to Choose a School Assembly Performer in San Diego

A good assembly does more than fill an hour on the calendar. The best ones hold the attention of hundreds of students at once, reinforce something the school already cares about, and leave kids talking on the way back to class. Here’s what principals, teachers, and PTA assembly chairs should look for when choosing an assembly performer, and how Amazing Dana’s school programs work.

What makes a school assembly successful?

Three things matter most:

  • Engagement for the whole room. An assembly presenter needs to hold a large group of students, not just the front row. Look for a program built around audience participation, where students are invited up, called on, and kept involved from start to finish.

  • Age-appropriate content. What works for older students often misses kindergartners, and the reverse. A good presenter adjusts language, pacing, and examples to the grade levels in the room.

  • A clear purpose. Some assemblies support a message the school is already teaching. Others are a reward or a celebration. Knowing which you want makes choosing much easier.

What assembly programs does Amazing Dana offer?

Dana offers three school assembly programs:

  • Magic for Life: a health and wellness assembly that pairs each magic demonstration with a simple lesson about healthy eating, staying active, and feeling good.

  • No Bullies Allowed: a kindness and anti-bullying assembly that uses magic and storytelling to show students how to treat one another, and what to do when someone isn’t being kind.

  • Field Day: an entertainment program, ideal as a reward, a celebration, or a lighthearted break in the school year.

Both educational programs are tailored to the age of the audience, so the message lands whether the students are kindergartners or middle schoolers. All three are interactive presentations built around student participation, using magic to capture attention and make each lesson memorable.

Which grade levels are assemblies best for?

Dana presents for elementary and middle schools, from TK through eighth grade. When a school has a wide age range, holding separate assemblies for younger and older grades lets each presentation be tailored to its audience.

How much does a school assembly cost in San Diego?

Amazing Dana’s assembly pricing is designed to be simple for schools:

  • A set fee for the first assembly

  • A reduced rate for each additional assembly on the same day, which makes it affordable to hold separate presentations for different grade levels

  • A flat rate for smaller schools

  • No travel fee anywhere in San Diego County

For current pricing, see the School Assemblies page.

Who usually books school assemblies?

Assemblies are booked by principals, assistant principals, teachers, and PTA or PTO assembly chairs. Dana works with each of them and can invoice the school or PTA directly.

How far in advance should a school book?

Schools often plan assemblies a semester ahead, and the most popular times, such as the weeks before winter break and the end of the school year, fill first. Booking a month or more ahead gives the best choice of dates, though it’s always worth asking about shorter notice.

Can assemblies be presented in Spanish?

Yes. Dana presents assemblies in English or Spanish, which can be a real advantage for schools with Spanish-speaking students and families.
